Hardly any trade paces between inside and outside like metalwork: fabricated in the workshop, installed on site, and the handover is where the planning usually falls apart. On top comes the inspection business. Powered gates need an annual safety check, but without a system half of them slip through. Metallwerk brings the dispatch board, asset management, project files, crane logistics, time tracking and invoicing together in one system, built for the everyday work of metalwork companies and locksmitheries.
“Workshop and assembly on one plan. Every gate an inspection customer.”
A working day with Metallwerk
From the first coffee to closing time, this is what daily work looks like.
-
06:45
A look at the dashboard
Two gates are due for their safety inspection; one click turns them into appointments. Rain is coming, so the fence job moves via bad-weather mode and the crew fabricates next week's railing in the workshop instead.
-
07:10
The crews grab their iPad
“My tour today” shows each crew its sites, with the construction data (steel stair, crane ordered, site power live) and the packing list: MIG/MAG welder, magnetic drill, heavy-duty anchors.
-
09:30
On site
Tick off the checklist: check foundations, erect the stair, anchor & align, mount the railing. Photos of the installation, documentation done on the side.
-
14:00
Sign-off on the iPad
The customer signs right on the screen, and the final invoice from the project file offsets the instalment automatically. Cleanly itemised, no pocket calculator.
-
15:30
Gate inspection on the way back
At the commercial customer, run the checklist, apply the sticker, get the signature. The invoice comes straight from the appointment, and the gate updates itself to “inspected”. Next due date: in 12 months.
-
16:30
End of the day
Clock out. The hours are in the system; the daily wrap-up shows the office the whole day. Tomorrow is a workshop day again, and the dispatch board already knows it.

Metalwork software that reflects the real workday
Hardly any trade paces between inside and outside like metalwork and locksmithery: railings, steel stairs, gate and fence systems, repair welding, fabricated in the workshop and installed on site. Metallwerk was built for exactly this routine, software for metalwork companies that works as well in the hall as at the desk.
Workshop and assembly on one plan
Fabricated inside, installed outside, and the handover is usually where the planning breaks down. The dispatch board shows workshop days and assembly days per crew, swapped via drag & drop. If rain hits the outdoor job, bad-weather mode moves all appointments of a day in one go. The crew keeps welding the next railing in the workshop instead, so idle time never happens: “time for the workshop, or back to the dispatch board.”
Gate inspections as recurring revenue
Powered gates must be inspected annually, and every gate you install is an inspection customer for the next 20 years. In Metallwerk the installed gate is stored as an asset on the customer: manufacturer, drive, 12-month interval. The dashboard shows due and overdue inspections, one click turns the due gate into an appointment, and after the inspection “last inspected” updates automatically. The per-gate history then serves as proof for the operator.
Big jobs, clean instalments, cranes without surprises
The €8,900 steel stair runs through the project file: measuring, fabrication and assembly appointments, photos and hours on the job, actual hours against budget, instalments numbered automatically, the final invoice offsetting itself. XRechnung covers industrial and commercial clients; DATEV export covers the tax adviser. “Crane needed” sits in the customer file and travels into the tour view; crane trailer and welders carry availability warnings, so nothing sits at the wrong place. Repair welding stays the quick job: template with hourly rate and call-out, before/after photo, signature and invoice on the spot.
Who is Metallwerk made for?
For metalwork companies and locksmitheries with one or several crews: railings, steel stairs, gate and fence systems, repair welding and gate safety inspections, and for every business that paces between workshop and assembly. Whether 3 or 30 employees, Metallwerk never charges per user; the whole team is always included in the package price. To get started we recommend the Basis package from €49.90 per month. Most companies choose Pro at €94.90, with invoicing including XRechnung, projects and the route planner.
Frequently asked questions
What does Metallwerk cost?
Metallwerk comes as a subscription in three packages, hosting, updates and support always included: Basis at €49.90 per month (up to 5 employees), Pro at €94.90 (up to 15 employees, our most popular package) and Premium at €169.90 (unlimited employees, every add-on module included). Prices apply with annual billing, plus VAT; billed monthly: €59.90, €114.90 or €199.90. For Basis and Pro you can add the customer portal (+€19.90), the Agentur package (+€39.90) and the Einsatz package (+€29.90 per month) individually; Premium has it all. Asset management, project files and invoicing are included from the Pro package, and you never pay per user.
Can I manage gate safety inspections?
That is what Metallwerk is built for. Installed gates are stored as assets on the customer, with manufacturer, drive and inspection interval. The dashboard shows the due list, one click turns the due gate into an inspection appointment, and after the inspection “last inspected” updates automatically. The per-gate history serves as proof for the operator.
Can I plan workshop and assembly separately?
Yes. The dispatch board shows workshop days and assembly days per crew and day, swapped via drag & drop. When rain kills the outdoor job, bad-weather mode turns the assembly day into a workshop day: all appointments move in one go; the crew keeps welding inside.
Can I invoice steel stairs and big jobs in instalments?
Yes, through the project file: instalments are numbered automatically (1st instalment, 2nd instalment …), and the final invoice offsets all issued instalments by itself, cleanly itemised, compliant, no pocket calculator. Actual hours run live against the budget.
Does Metallwerk warn me when the crane trailer or welder is double-booked?
Yes. When creating an appointment, Metallwerk checks whether the kit is already scheduled on another site the same day and warns immediately. Warning instead of blocking: you decide. The dashboard widget also shows where each kit stands today.
Can I write invoices with Metallwerk?
Invoicing is a core feature, not a paid add-on. Invoices are created straight from the completed appointment, right after the customer signature if you wish, with positions from the service template, from the per-metre railing price to repair welding by the hour. Invoice numbers are compliant and gap-free; the number range is freely configurable; existing businesses continue seamlessly from their last number. Plus: PDF with your own letterhead, open items, payment reminders and dunning with one click. If you prefer to work without the invoicing module, simply hide it.
Does Metallwerk support XRechnung?
Invoices can be exported as officially validated XRechnung e-invoices. Especially with industrial and commercial clients and the public sector, that puts you on the safe side. Dispatch goes straight from the system by email, via your own SMTP server or SendGrid.
Does my tax adviser get the data?
Yes, with one click: the DATEV export produces the posting batch plus all document PDFs for the chosen period, ready to hand over to the firm.
What do I need to use Metallwerk?
Just a browser. Metallwerk runs as your own instance with its own database on German servers; hosting, updates and support are part of every package. We handle setup and data migration; you receive your login and get started. Prefer to run the software on your own server, or buy it? Custom solutions are available on request.
Can I test Metallwerk beforehand?
The live demo is open to everyone: a complete installation with a sample company, two crews, 10 kits, priced templates, a customer with a stored sliding gate (inspection due on the dashboard) and a running project with an instalment invoice. Tap “Als Chef testen” (test as boss) on the login page, done. The demo resets itself every 30 minutes. Want to compare several trades? The demo hub at demos.pixagentur.com shows all live demos at a glance.
Does it work on the iPad and without reception?
Yes. Metallwerk is a web app (PWA) with an app icon on the home screen. The time clock and daily tour work even in underground car parks without reception and sync as soon as the network returns.
Does the software run under my company name?
Yes, white-label is included. Login, app name and business details carry your company, and your invoices appear on your own letterhead.
What about data protection?
Your customer and employee data lives in your own instance with its own database on German servers, GDPR-compliant and strictly separated from other companies. Roles and permissions control who sees what, an audit log documents changes, and uploaded photos are automatically stripped of GPS data.
Can Metallwerk be adapted or extended for my company?
Yes. Modules can be switched off individually, and from extra fields to entire extensions, quoting or a client portal for instance, we build additions on request at a fixed price. The fastest way is our ticket system: describe your wish and we reply with a fixed-price quote.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. You only pay the package price: no per-user licences, no setup fee, no extra charges for updates or support. Setup and data migration from your current solution are included as well. The only addition is statutory VAT, and you can cancel monthly.
